Aren't people, as they age, just older versions of who they were when they were younger? I mean, if someone is an optimist at 25, s/he is probably going to be an optimist at 50, right? Age does, though, seem to to bring with it a certain amount of humility, wisdom, and acceptance, so maybe those characteristics contribute to the happiness of people who have never, by nature, been very "happy."
